Rubber is a universal material that you can find everywhere you go. You can find it in your vehicles, your shoes, your cookware, and many other items today. Although rubber may seem like a plastic synthetic material that’s harmful to the environment, on the contrary, rubber comes from latex which is 100% natural material. This natural latex now makes up our new Ecosa Pure Mattress, so you can sleep and save the planet all at the same time!

From Tree to Organic Mattress

Where Everything Begins

Rubber trees—scientific name: Hevea brasiliensis—are native to the rainforests of Central and South America, but they can also be found today in East, South and Southeast Asian countries, such as China, India and Malaysia. Latex comes from these trees through a process called rubber tapping.

The process involves slicing grooves into the trunk of a rubber tree and peeling off the bark. The latex then seeps out of the tree and into an attached collection cup. After enough have been collected, the liquid latex is ready for processing into two kinds of products: Dunlop and Talalay latex.

The Organic Latex Mattress Takes Form

Liquid latex is processed to produce two mattress products: Dunlop and Talalay. Dunlop involves an older process discovered in 1929 and hasn’t changed much since then. Meanwhile, the process for Talalay has been around since the 1940s but has been improved to meet modern standards today.

To make Dunlop, liquid latex is stirred to make a foamy mixture into an airtight foaming plate. Next, the latex undergoes heat treatment by vulcanisation to cure. Once formed, the produced pad is taken out, washed and squeezed rolled to remove the water. Inner water is further extracted through radio frequency technology. After drying, the cushion is finally measured, cut and glued to the desired size for the mattress.

In contrast, the manufacturing process for Talalay is much more complicated. Liquid latex is stirred and placed in a mould, which has thousands of needles that create natural ventilation holes in the cushion. A vacuum then sucks all the air out of the moulded latex. Next, the mould is flash frozen and filled with carbon dioxide, both to solidify the latex pad. Finally, Talalay latex undergoes the same stages as Dunlop from heat treatment to drying to cutting.

The Natural Wonder of the Ecosa Pure Mattress

Dunlop and Talalay latex offer two different kinds of experiences to sleepers, and latex mattresses usually consist of one or the other latex layer only. To give you the best of both worlds, our Ecosa Pure Mattress is composed of both Dunlop and Talalay latex. What’s great is that you’ll find neither polyurethane foam inside nor any other harmful plastic. Only 7 zone spring coils are included for added support and contouring to your body. They relieve pressure points on your body, leading to fewer body aches in the morning due to uneven weight distribution. In fact, they adjust to each of your body parts in a way that the support for your left leg is different from the support for your right.

On its own, Dunlop latex is fluffier compared to Talalay based on the latter’s higher density. On the other hand, Talalay latex is firmer, bouncier, and more breathable because of its open cell structure. Together, they create the best mattress with strong body support with optimal contouring, high-quality airflow, and adequate bounce but without partner disturbance. Say goodbye to back pain!

The green mattress is also non-toxic, hypoallergenic, antimicrobial and anti-dust mite. You can even reverse the mattress to change the firmness level of your sleeping surface. You get all the benefits of both Dunlop and Talalay in one and all of it came from a renewable and organic material!

More Eco-Friendly Wonders of the Ecosa Pure Mattress

Of course, the cushions make up only part of our natural latex mattress. The rest of the mattress is environmentally friendly too, if not organic. You can help save the planet in various ways when you buy our Ecosa Pure Mattress.

The mattress cover is composed of Lenzing TENCEL™, marine recycled yarn, and some polyester to make an environmentally friendly textile. TENCEL™ comes from sustainably grown wood which has been broken down into cellulose fibres. In addition, marine recyclable yarn is made out of degraded plastic from the ocean, reused and reformed to reduce water pollution. Along with polyester, the organic TENCEL™ and recycled yarn work together to offer a premium feel to sleepers, while ensuring the use of sustainable materials. Lastly, you can clean the cover, which is detachable and washable, when you want.

In turn, recycled cotton felt protects the spring coils in the Ecosa Pure Mattress. Waste clothes, blankets and other waste cotton are used to make the felt. More recycled material make up the zipper, the tape, and the polyethylene film as well which come when you order the Ecosa Pure Mattress. In fact, the tape is biodegradable!

Organic and Recycled Mattress Materials Guarantee Guilt-Free Sleep

Conventional mattresses often use synthetic materials to meet your sleeping needs. In fact, sometimes, other mattress brands even promote latex mattresses which are actually made from synthetic latex. The resulting mattresses may come out cheaper, but you end up with products that have a negative environmental impact. Most of the time, these beds may fail you too, offering abysmal support and short durability.

Investing in premium organic materials makes all the difference. With a new mattress like the Pure Mattress, you can enjoy a bouncy but firm sleeping surface which only natural latex can give. Along with its recycled components, you also play a vital role in protecting the environment. One eco-friendly mattress can already go a long way towards sustainable products and a cleaner world. Check out the Ecosa Pure Mattress now and see how you can save the planet while you sleep!
